Warm up this Season!

One of the perks of city living on a cold day is that you can walk only a few short blocks to find some really great places to warm up with a cozy meal or cocktails with friends.

Here are a few of my favorites throughout the city:

The Love

130 S 18th Street (18th and Sansom)

There is something so lovely about this small, intimate bar tucked away from the main restaurant, and the cocktail menu is top notch.  I don’t know about you, but as the weather gets colder, my wine tastes get more robust.  The Love is sure to warm you up with its hearty cabs.

2nd Story Brewing Company

117 Chestnut Street

What could be better on a cold day than grilled cheese?  2nd Story Brewing Company fits the bill.  Their “Adult Grilled Cheese” is made with three types of cheese, delicious apple chutney and bacon.  Can’t possibly go wrong.

Hawthorne’s

738 S 11th Street (11th and Fitzwater)

If you’re feeling like cozying up to a fireplace while you enjoy a creative execution of brunch, this place can’t be beat.  The wood burning fireplace warms the restaurant and the menu warms the belly.  Check out the Hawthorne’s omelet, because who doesn’t need beef short rib and eggs on a cold winter day?

Bistrot la Minette

623 S 6th Street (6th and Bainbridge)

This quaint neighborhood bistro always warms my heart.  With their classic French dishes and winter seasonal menu, you can’t help but indulge in a Cassoulet!  If you are thinking of gathering a larger group of friends, their private dining space with its beautiful farmhouse table, is wonderful to consider.  What better way to catch up and laugh with friends on a winter night!
